"STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS: PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER" PPS National Leadership Conference NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 1, 2007 JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI
The 2007 PPS Leadership Conference, with topics and content drawn from Chapters' input, will include sessions to assist chapter's planning and work in the three focus areas of the PPS National strategic plan:
LEADERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT will provide the opportunity to address several topics: Fundraising, leadership structure, attracting new leaders, parent leadership training, and building relationships.
PUBLIC AWARENESS/PUBLIC EDUCATION topics will include marketing/good PR, building a positive relationship with your school district, conducting forums & surveys, and serving as a critical friend to your school district.
ACTION: ADVOCACY AND ORGANIZING will provide information on effective lobbying, building a grassroots advocacy organization, and connecting membership/leadership development to advocacy.
A topic woven throughout the conference will be how to use technology effectively to accomplish the goals of PPS.
Sessions will be interactive, including peer-to-peer sessions for chapter members to meet among themselves to share best practices and discuss issues and topics of concern.
Our keynote speaker on Friday will be Charles Payne, a nationally known researcher, writer and speaker on community engagement in public school reform.
Join us in Jackson!
